Hi guys,

I'd like some nice tips or articles on fine tuning my pc. In other words setting speeds and frequencies in BIOS and those kinds of things. Maybe some tips on overclocking from locals.

So if you have any interesting articles you know about please link them. Otherwise show me what you've done to get your pc to run at it's full potential. (while still stable)

Ah, the dark art of overclocking

Everything depends on what CPU and motherboard you have. Can you list your full specs please ;)

Bah forgot that... okay so here goes:

Intel Core 2 Duo E4500 (Which I know is awesome for overclocking)
MSI G31TM-P21 (It's a cheapie but I can't yet afford anyhting bigger)
4GB DDR 800 Samsung memory
I think the other important thing is Radeon HD 4670 1GB DDR 3, I'm using onboard sound. Using both Sata and IDE (DVD) and also;
*DeepCool Ice Wind FS cooler
*I have a custom build case that pushes a lot of wind through it, with a lot of testing using a thermo stat for dead zones and found non, except one of my motherboards isn't getting as much air as the rest.

i dont think u will get more from that system.u have to upgrade unfortunatly :)

Maybe, I'm not going to give up that quickly though. This is my testing rig, I have a stronger pc, this is just for playing around a bit... so come on people! Anyone? :P

I had more or less the same system as that when I my machine was overclocked:

- C2D E4500
- Gigabyte G31MX-S2
- 4GB DDR800 Samsung

My chip could run at just under 3Ghz, while playing with the various settings on stock voltage. Couldn't get the ram to stay at 800Mhz like this though. In the end I chose:

- 300Mhz FSB (1200Mhz).
- I had to drop the multiplier from 11 to 9, so I didn't have to adjust any voltages.
- Ram stayed at 800, I just had to adjust the ratio's, can't remember now though.

Basically ran at 2.7Ghz for quite some time, with no issues whatsoever. It could run at 3.0Ghz with the above settings but the temps were too high for my liking. I have an Arctic Cooler Pro 7, and @ 2.7Ghz using Intel Burn Test the temps were around 62'C.
It doesn't even bother to POST @ 3.3Ghz without changing voltages, which wasn't my aim to begin with.

Not much info just what my E4500 was running at :)

Hop to your nearest library and look for the November 2010 issue of PC Format (I think its that one, might be wrong) They have an whole section about overclocking Intel or AMD CPU's, overclocking your gfxcard and even overclocking DDR3 ram :)

Thanks P3wP3w and TheHxckid, I'll check it out. Maybe I can find out the exact ratio's somewhere. I'll let you know what my results are. I like the fact that the E4500 has a x10 multiplier which is pretty freaking high! Potential right there.

Might have to get the November 2005 version with his specs
