Hi

Is there any product(s) which will enable the transmission of both network data and USB data via CAT5 cabling?

We have fingerprint readers for access control on our premises, but I want to relocate the access control PC to the main server room while allowing easy access to its screen, mouse, keyboard and USB port for further enrolment from another office.

Thanks

IS the Usb port really important ?

Can you not use remote desktop and a network share to deliver files ?

This would be the easiest and least cable method.

Fingerprint readers often run off of USB.

I take it the USB is only needed for the enrollment of new users and all other readers runs on the network? (That's how our setup is)

Should be able to get a KVM/USB extender for that, just make sure the usb works for other things as well and not just keyboard/mouse.
Also seen wireless extenders that would do the same thing.

Doesn't it depend on the model of the reader?

A Google of tcpip fingerprint reader produces many results, but these may require your getting a new system.

Nah, not interested in getting a new system.

Will then get the KVM extender and stuff rather, will work out much cheaper.
