Finnaly bought the PS3

Bought the PS3 80 GB from game last night for R2700 (at game), usually retails for R3500, I think I got a good deal there.

Came with an extra controller, Uncharted 2 game and some other racing game...

Couldn't set it up last night as I was tired... Will set it up today... Haven't set up a tv game before... any pointers? Or is it just simple... and it plays blu-ray...
 
Just remember that is a refurb PS3... Not saying its crap or anything. hope you enjoy playing it as much as what I do too from time to time
 
its pretty straight forward to setup. Hopefully you have a good TV and you can buy an HDMI cable to connect it up with. Thats a potential pitfall in that I dont think the PS3 comes with an HDMI cable! It will have other cables though but HDMI would be preferred.

Then just power it up! Unfortunately the PSN network might still be down due to hacking >.< Biggest security breach ever apparently. In any case if you connect it to the net there will be alot of updates to download, so maybe leave that till later (when PSN is back) and just have some fun with your new games :)
 
why buy one now ... in the end of next yr they gonna announce a new console for both MS and Sony ...

I dont think so!
Rumours around the mill is that a new console on the horizon would only start making a whisper of an appearance in 2014.

House and Home has the 160gb slim for R2999 brand new.

Thought about this, but from what I have had, the refurb is as good as new... anyway, I can always return it if it craps out...

the PSN will affect playing even if it's not connected to the net?

Just some info in case you dont know already. The PSN network is down and will be for a while still due to security issues. Big changes are happening so dont be worried in the mean time if you try to connect but cant.
 
great thanks guys... just called incredible connection for the HDMI cable and it's a whopping R300 :wtf: ... it's just a cable ...
