Fired for sharing a post on Facebook

But the fact that he works there was disclosed by the news agencies. He didn't bring the company into disrepute with his actions. The news company dragged the company in and then only was it linked to the company and his actions affecting it. I think personally the news agencies should be held accountable for bringing the company into disrepute.

I actually didn't see those reports. I only heard about him being an exec for Taco Bell after he got fired

a lady at work send out a email, the email was meant for a friend and was send to a group. It offended another woman, and she got fired. it was rasist base.

In these times, the employment relationship is seen as an opportunity to "own" the employee. Not that different from times gone by when people owned their slaves. This means that increasingly companies see it as "their right" to have access to an employee's private life.

+1

We can debate the severity of the punishment but what got her fired is that she passed on a post without reading what it contains. That must cast doubt on all her pronouncements, likes and share, past or future.
This is not what we want from someone in a powerful political position.

what happened to freedom of expression???? freedom of speech? how does that apply?

That's why anyone can start their own party and let all those who share the same view to follow them. If you don't follow the DA's view, YOU SIMPLY GOTTA GO!

It doesn't.

By quoting an article praising PW Botha, she has effectively endorsed apartheid. That wouldn't be a problem, but she has effectively sabotaged the Company she works for by giving their competitors (the ANC) ammunition to attack them.

She has left the Company with no other option other than firing her; anything else would be a tacit confirmation that her view is widely held.

Maybe staying away from social networks altogether would save people a hell lot of headaches

... because people don't understand social media, as Zille seems not to have figured out either.
