My firefox suddenly just stopped loading websites.

I tried everything but it's not working at all.

Quick search on reddit seems like a widespread issue? Anyone else having issues on FireFox?

updated?
different connection?
clear cache/cookies?

Didn't update anything. Other browsers are working. Cleared cache and disabled all extensions. Still nothing.

Mine seems to do it early morning, but I'm not sure if it is a Google or Firefox problem as my Gmail on the browser often hangs in the morning. Been happening for a while now, after a couple of minutes it seems fine.

Funny enough I just restarted Firefox to check (I'm normally on Safari) and its a new version now. But it does still work.

Don't know if its fluke but I'm getting it to work and break by changing this setting and restarting FF.

Try turning all of these OFF, restart Firefox and see.

Also, I found FF has multiple processes spawned, I killed them all off too. I reckon its one of these causing it.

Update : It broke completely and wouldn't do anything. Saw it had updated yesterday. Restarted laptop, same kuk. Started it in troubleshoot mode and it started working so I then tried @cavedog solution. Now working fine. Possibly a bug in the update.

Thought either my fibre was off or a DNS issue, as Telegram was still going - but then also noticed other devices / browsers were fine.

Did a quick search and didn't see anything related to Firefox v96 and internet not working.
Rebooted and still no joy.

Noted one Firefox process would constantly use 10% CPU even after closing FF. Closed it - reopened Firefox and it's been an hour and it's still working.
Must be an update issue ja.

Good to see there's a thread about it as I was wondering what gives.

I had this yesterday

I thought it was because I had 2 profiles open and the one profile updated firefox without the other being aware of that

Had this this morning. Eventually I decided to give up and use Chrome

Seems there is a bug that was triggered in HTTP3 when once of the CDN's from firefox made changes. It's causing an infinite loop apparently.

I confirm had the issue twice today just using another browser for now

Mine also did it this morning. Killing the process did not fix it, but rebooting did.

Had it happen about an hour ago on my Firefox for Ubuntu.

Found my Network setting trying to use a Proxy which isn't in use, but that didn't fix it. Safe mode got it going again, then a few hiccups further but now okay in normal mode.

Let's hope we'll get a fix update soonest.

BTW, before mine failed we had our ADSL go down (no access on various devices but router looked fine) for a few minutes.

Edit: Nope, seems to all have been Firefox related after further analysis.
