If you're one of the converted as far as Firefox is concerned, you can save a lot of day-to-day bandwidth by installeing the following extensions.

Adblock with Filerset G Updater - blocks off-site ads and banners. Big security improvement, and saves a lot of time and consequently bandwidth as far as browsing is concerned.

NoScript - also blocks anything off-site from running scripts. Effectively blocks a lot of annoyances.

Flashblock - prevents flash-animations from loadng without your consent. Since these are often in the 100KB region, and rather system-intensive, this is a very useful extension.

Just my ZAR0.02.

Thanks!

About adblock, do you have any tips for me? When I want to block ads of regulary visited sites, I right click and ad-block using * as wildcards, like http://ads.adserver.com/* but when I visit again, there are still ads?

Any tips on how to use the wildcards.

Another Firefox tip:

In the address bar, use the following keywords to search popular sites:

dict [search word] - searches dictionary.com for the search word; Good way to check spelling.

wp [search word] - Searches wikipedia for search word.

I just found a cool website that explains this and even how to make your own smart searches, as they are called:

http://johnbokma.com/firefox/keymarks-explained.html

About that searching option.. opera owns that completley, it has built in option to take any search bar off a site and build it into Opera.. but for FF, there is also a exstension that lets you change and delete your current searches, as many people dont use most of them so you can have your custome ones ordered as you want and only use searches you need.

As far as wildcards go, people often have problems, you just have to make shure its in the right place.. like that ads.adserver.com/* should be fine, but you might want to even put another wild card inplace of ads, to block all .adserver domains. Makes for a more effective list.
Best thing to do is simply keep up to date with one of the big blocking lists on the net, filterset G is good. Then you can add your own for SA specific sites etc. which wont be on the list. http://mybroadband.co.za/phpads/* is the entry for myADSL bannerads at the top.. if I am remembering it right..

IE Tab. For all those annoying websites that only work with IE.
