Firefox turning into a Klunker??

What I have found is that firefox keeps processing flash and animations on web pages if the tabs are not visible. Sometime I find it chewing a CPU core all on its own and taking 500mb ram. Finding the offending page(s) and killing it usually solves the problem.

That I can concur with, though I don't know about the latest version of FF. I had the browser freezing up the entire system with flash animations even though I wasn't using the browser!

I'm disappointed with the new Firefox version. It eats a lot of memory and CPU, websites/tabs doesn't open or gets stuck on one page and no other buttons (or popups for buttons) work anymore. I have to forcefully close it.

Too afraid to open multiple tabs now...

I haven't experienced any of that :erm:

Didn't know it was open source as I for one haven't seen mods of it, lame assumption but that how I view most open source software lol.

Plenty of mods out there, mostly linux though as far as I know. Swiftfox & Swiftweasel come to mind for starters.

I C there are tons of people unhappy with Firefox 3.5! Google it! I a trying to make space to back up my drive...then will format and install Win 7 RTM and try FF 3.5.1 again. If the issue remains, I'm ditching Firefox for Chrome or something better. The only let down with Chrome is, no Tabbed folders with links for Web addresses!

3.5.2

have the same issues, firefox starts out with minimal use, but as you go along, it starts using more and more. I am using 3.5.1. Issue has been around for a good few versions now. Still better then IE, but getting worse all the time.

The first thing I do with a new firefox installation is disable the "awesome" bar.

I still prefer safari for daily use though.

3.5.2 still have the hanging problem. While other web pages load, I can't click on anything else including tabs, Menu buttons at the top of the window, nothing. Hangs Firefox completely for several seconds while a page loads... If ads on the page has not loaded or if it updates, it hangs firefox....

*Sigh*

Admittedly I do use Flashblock now and only run flash when I want to.

As for Chrome: until it has the addons that I use in Firefox I don't think I'll be using it.

Memory leaks are one thing, but it really shouldn't be using so much RAM! Are you sure it's not something simple like adware or spyware?
