Firefox vs Chrome

TL;DR - Both are equally good.

Agreed. It's nice that there are two great browsers out there. I like Chrome because it keeps my passwords, history and bookmarks across devices and OSs', but wouldn't be surprised if Firefox does too. I like that Chrome doesn't have a title bar, but I would imagine you could achieve the same thing on FF. At the end of the day, it's about what you prefer - I'm not going to constantly change my browser because of some slight performance advantage one has over the other at any given time.

I use both and like both. Using FF more though, just a force of habit I guess. Liked the fact that FF put up a video on their YouTube channel and showed where they are faster than Chrome and also where they are slower. Kudos to them for that.

I was a diehard Firefox fanboy for around a decade, but I've been using Chrome the last two years or so.

- Better font smoothing
- Support for Google Earth's web app
- Works better with Play Music
- Feeder solves my issue with losing RSS functionality
- Cleaner design imo
- More useful for Android users as bookmarks are synced to mobile Chrome app
- The Earth View extension for new tabs looks incredible

looking at it from a different perspective. i.e. why they all suck :)

Chrome:
Uses lots of CPU, even on background tabs
uses lots of RAM
scrolling stutters on a 4K display
bleeds disk activity

Firefox
Uses lots of CPU, even on background tabs
uses lots of RAM
scrolling stutters on a 4K display
annoyingly large title bar
auto-update process not as good as Chrome and Edge.

Edge:
address bar searching and browsing history predictions suck
No Browser sync service, if you are running local user accounts
I am really struggling to find technical flaws in it

If Chrome is resource intensive for me I haven't noticed. Maybe an issue for slow PCs. Perhaps Google applies their Android philosophy regarding memory usage to desktop Chrome - unused RAM is wasted RAM.

After switching to Firefox I Just noticed you don't get 4k on YouTube but when use chrome 4k option is available

I love the speed of chrome but I find it quite fiddly when it comes to history and previously-browsed sites.

The history takes a second or two to load in Chrome.
In firefox I feel like I can just type in part of a previously visited site and it pops up, Chrome can be a bit strange with this.
Having to drag the url text to bookmark a tab still feels awkward in Chrome - just let me drag the tab like firefox.

Chrome for speed.
Firefox for usability (and I still prefer having the dedicated search bar).
