So before i get the Chrome & IE fanatics going i just wanna say that i am sure there are many better and more fun browsers out there, yet i cant see myself swapping loyalties just yet (plus i love Flashgot, which isnt supported in anthing else). Always been using it, no issues across the board, right up till now :\ Was running v12 no worries, but i think i may have loaded a corrupt addon and started noticing FF hanging around in the processes after being closed, just chowing away at my memory. Couldnt open a new instance neither, until one manually went into Task Manager and killed it.

Fine, i thought after some forums, reinstall FF it is. After that was finished my immortal FF issue seemed to be resolved, only for another, more irritating bug to rear its ugly head. Some of my most frequented websites, even Gmail, suddenly started spurting out 'Mistrusted Connection' with options to 'Get me Out of Here' or Permanently Accept some sort of Security Certificate. Now i first paniced and thought something might be up, but i have my trusty antivirus going, and this is basically 'n clean re-install of FF. Getting annoying now as i cant even open some of my favorite sites (Rapidshare doesnt even bring up its own homepage, and who doesnt trust Gmail's loging page?!) , after accepting the cert it just stops loading and brings up blank.

Forums seem to think it can be resolved by fixing the system date & time, but mine are fine >.<

Any suggestions please?

When you re-install Firefox... you need to make sure you removed every last vestige of the previous installation.

That includes deleting the Firefox folder under your Program Files.
Then check in Users/{Your Name}/AppData/Local/Mozilla/Firefox/ and delete everything in there.
(You might have to enable to show hidden files and folders first in Control Panel)
Then check also in Users/{Your Name}/AppData/Roaming/Mozilla/Firefox/ and delete everything in there.

Then you can try re-installing a new fresh version.

Been a Chromium user for several years now, will never go back.

What OS are you using?
What DNS servers are you using?
Have you tried the 'Restart with Add-ons Disabled...' option in the 'Help' menu?
Do ALL sites appear to be HTTPS instead of HTTP?

Yay..

Remove everything and try again, but follow this guide:

http://kb.mozillazine.org/Uninstalling_firefox#On_Windows

Or if you don't want to reinstall try making a new profile:

http://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Managing-profiles
Thnx. Ill give it one more shot using this.

^^^ THIS

Made the move after FF started going mental with updates. No regrets.

Oh yes and Download Accelerator Manager (DAM) is as good if not better than flashgot.
All else fails i guess ill just bite the bullet and convert. Flashgot is an extension i use to inject my RS links into Flashget, but thnx, ill have a look at DAM also.

I use UninstallTool to remove software, which usually does a registry and HDD search afterwards and removes residual traces of the app, but ill make sure to check those paths after i try to remove FF for the last time tonight.

Install Opera.
Oh heeeeeeeeellll no.

Thank you, becoming more of an option for me with every suggestion.

a) Win 7 x64
b) None that i recall at the moment (or have set up manually)
c) Not yet no, but the problem persists after a fresh install with no addons present also.
d) Yes, but only some, of my bookmarked sites do in fact revert to https when trying to open them under http

And your computer date is correct?
It will do that if your date time is out.

a) Please consider using a 64bit optimized build like this one: http://waterfoxproject.org/

b) Try changing dns servers manually - use Google's public dns servers(Primary: 8.8.8.8 - secondary: 8.8.4.4)

c) Clear Windows dns cache & disable proxy server for internet access

d) Boot from a Linux Live-cd with Firefox included & see if problem persists...

Best of luck!

Sounds like local PC issues to me(tracking cookies, viruses, malware, etc.). I have been using Firefox for over 3 years now and none of your issues have popped up. Using FF Beta(14/Aurora), and it's better than ever.

When last did you run a virus scan?

Scheduled scan runs every Friday evening. Real Time Protection always up to date and scans every 6 hours or so. Meh, i made the jump to Chrome in the end, wanna say thnx for all the suggestions. Kinda missing my link checkers and API's but overall not a bad browser - displaying everything i used to have and has some fun extensions - the download save/open dialog would be nice, but no problem.

Firefox tabs take over a second to close, on my monster spec pc... even when I only have two tabs open... So naturally I'm not using it anymore

I eventually couldn't wait for Firefox to speed up again like 6.0 did compared to 4.0. Plus there's the terrible add-on problem of devs not letting their add-ons have higher versioning than the one they're coding for, breaking all compatibility when the browser gets updated.

Chrome is fast, light and has a few things that are far more useful, like the brilliant app store and Angry Birds for free. I install Mozilla for everyone else, but Chrome stays on my desktop.
