Fireplace advice

The problem with prolonged burning of pine is that the high resin content translates to high creosote buildup in the chimney. Creosote is the main cause of chimney fires.

Don't put bluegum in a closed combustion either. It also burns too hot, and has a high resin content that will make the glass dirty.

My preference is Sekelbos. I buy in Summer and let it dry out.

If rooikrans is damaging your fireplace, you got a **** fireplace...
Not a f'ing chance. I've got a $$$ Charnwood AND even the manufacturer / supplier (GCFires) recommends not using woods like Rooikrans due to high chance of block crack if over heated too quickly.

Whatever floats your boats guys. Burn newspaper for all I care. I'll carry on burning my bluegum as I've done for nearly 25 years.

Nobodies arguing about burning bluegum, except one numpty

Most of us are just telling you, that if you burn hard hard woods like Rooikraans that you'll F up your fireplace.

@Grouter if you bother to scroll back (and stop day drinking  ) you'll see that I myself bought 2000 pieces of Bluegum yesterday.

Unfortunately I had to sign a nondisclosure agreement with her. Not allowed to share her secrets with anyone. Definitely with her mother.
