Hi,

i need help choosing a ISP.
i'm in the Beaulieu area and looking at a 25mbps line for browsing and streaming music and TV services(possibly at 4K, i believe 25mbps is the starting point for 4K streaming).
i do not download much at all.

i believe the fibre line in my area is Metrofibre.

ISP's

Firestream claims to offer a 1:1 contention ratio.
Afrihost declines to give out any info regarding their contention ratio.

Afrihost is R50pm more expensive than FireStream but throw in free installation and activation fees amounting to R2070.
thus 3 and a half years need to pass before the price savings from FireStream negate the free installation and activation fees offered by Afrihost.
i'm not to concerned about this, more which is going to be the better ISP

i'm also open to using other ISP's not mentioned here

your thoughts would be much appreciated!

Yeah the true 1:1 Ratio mate you should be paying around R4000 or something, go look at Bitco thats true prices for 1:1.

Cool ideas is the one to go with, afrihost have a very high cap on the uncapped which you will never reach but im not sure what their shaping is like

lastly the afrihost free install is a contract trap in its essence as they screw you once you wanna leave. Sneaky open ended contract to put it like that

"Cheap is not always cheap". I signed up with Firestream because they cheaper. I even recommended them to people in my complex and friends. I now have an issue i need to out. I can't get hold of them. The number i got from google is for leaving voicemail. They never respond to emails.
Im now happy yo pay R50 extra for good client experience.
