Firewall issues

Hi guys.

I was using commando firewall but after formatting my system yesterday and reinstalling everything I have been having some issues. When I install the software it works perfectly like usual for about 10 minutes. Then I will get I message that a new connection has been found( the connection ip is my router's) then after this my web browsing will be completely blocked, windows update and steam will work but firefox and ie will be blocked. I have tried setting them as exceptions but that doesn't work.

I had the same issue on my dad's xp machine so we decided there to stick with sygate.

So anybody have any idea how I can solve this or is there another firewall I can use. Must be a free one.

Not sure what could be causing your issue but there was a Firewall thread a couple of days ago, look here.

You'll see in that thread but most people (including myself) recomend Comodo as a free firewall...

true comodo or zonealarm.

Comodo is actually the firewall I have been trying to use and is giving me the problem. For some reason I always refer to it as commando.

Will try zone alarm and see if it gives the same problems.
