If community groups are anything to go by, we must think of the poor animals on Diwali.

But the animals must be used to the fireworks on Guy Fawkes, Christmas and New Years, because there are no complaints when people light fireworks on those days...

I'd be all for organised big public displays, and just banning fireworks beyond basic types that don't make windows rattle from a km away.

And that would be for all event, Diwali/Guy Fawkes/New Years.

It used to be cool, but then some spoiled it. Now it is best used, or displayed, in a controlled environment.

Our tannies complain on all those occasions but especially for tonight. Some houses started testing fireworks last night and the WhatsApp group came alive instantly.

Depends on your age; if you are of a certain age you should have fond memories of fireworks with your mates as a lightie during "Guy Fox".

Expose them to the noise. Like any living thing, even humans, it gets scared if unusual things happen untill they realise it does not threaten them. My animals have also never bothered about noises such as fireworks or thunder. They soon learn they're safe.

Protect any living thing from unusual events and it'll seek shelter and never learn to "cope with life". Many children are such pissies nowadays.

So, your take is that the world must stop functioning because of one or two moffie dogs. Let me assure you, there will always be someone or something offended by something that happens, no matter what it is, good or bad.

Fireworks isn't needed for the world to function. They should just allow it at designated spots and ban it outright.

People that doesn't want to go to designated spots just need to live with it
