Hello Everyone,

Looks like the firmware update that ProASM made available is now official.

The dialler software will automatically fetch it from Sentech's web site.

For those of you not using the dialler the files are available on : ftp://swupdate:p[email protected]

The site is ONLY available from within the MyWireless network.

Latest official P1C : 4.2.1.8
Latest official PCMCIA: 4.2.2.7

By "Official" I am not saying that Sentech have made this annoucement. I am simply stating that it is available as an automatic update via their "official" dialler.

The update software should upgrade users of 4.2.1.1 or 4.2.1.2 to version 4.2.1.8

This cold modem thing is crazy, I feel so ridiculous when I have to explain to some of my buddies what exactly my modem is doing in my bed on the hot blanky

I think I need to get my granmother to knit modem warmers - I'll offer is as a product to Nowire and retire rich ;-) ...

Problem is that it'll be too seasonal ;-)

Has anyone had any problems with this update? I'm a little wary of something going wrong...

Jhbgirl: I just upgraded to 4.2.1.8 with no problems

Just be sure to read ProAsms directions at
http://www.myadsl.co.za/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=3166

( you have to use the original MyWireless dialer, which i forgot about
since i use MySignal instead )

Sending 100 pings to www.sentech.co.za from MySignal gives the following:

Before upgrade (4.2.1.1)
Min=86 : Max=682 : Ave=229 ms : Packetloss = 7%
Min=61 : Max=769 : Ave=273 ms : Packetloss = 8%
Min=95 : Max=236 : Ave=148 ms : Packetloss = 6%

After upgrade (4.2.1.8)
Min=70 : Max=1777 : Ave=285 ms : Packetloss = 0%
Min=95 : Max=1894 : Ave=312 ms : Packetloss = 0%
Min=86 : Max=1716 : Ave=331 ms : Packetloss = 0%

thats 300 pings without one being dropped - sounds good to me :-)
im not too worried about the ave going up, thats just from longer times
that used to be dropped instead ?

Thanks CBL. I'm just wary because I read a lot of ppl have had problems with it searching for a signal. My connection isn't very stable at the best of times :|

Anyone know where to get the dialer software - I lost my CD...

If you had a friend who talked to you, like you sometimes talk to yourself, would you continue to hang around with that person? - Rob Bremer

Rather download it from the site provided by ProAsm/Rodent (search forum for "Firmware"), the Sentech site is slow and didn't work when I tried it yesterday.

Donovan... he wants the dialer software... not the Firmware???

Try:
http://www.mauiskyfiber.com/downloads/4.2.2.7_MSF_local.exe
(I've tested that one too)
I'm still to find the Sentech dialer software available online!
