If you are willing to support anything in the pursuit of curbing crime / terrorism / communism / ? you are looking for trouble. While there are certainly legitimate applications for this technology, the unfortunate truth is that people cannot be trusted not to abuse the power it brings for personal gain (political, financial, whatever). Which is why I worry about the future of free society when I see this kind of statement made.

This sums it up quite well:

I don't trust America to not abuse this technology, as far as I can throw them.

Give an inch and they will take the proverbial mile.

I am not saying it should not be used, but it needs to be, erm, closely monitored.

Incidently, the crime in question was

Ja Nee, Im with you on that. There always has to be a balance and sometimes the ends dont justify the means. I wish SA could get a bunch of these drones. Fly them over high crime area's.... guard our borders and catch poachers

Agreed, this would be an awesome tool to keep an eye on the idiots that kill our rhinos and plunder the seas. Just remember to arm them appropriately (the drones, not the poachers).
