I just moved from IOS to Android after about 7 years! Main reason being the stupid decision from Apple to remove the headphone jack (yes I know, dongles) and thought that the S8 looks pretty good. Apart from the obvious system shock when discovering how different it is so far I'm enjoying it. There are two issues though that I can't get round so would appreciate some advice:

1. Airplay - I have a B&W Zepellin and this allows IOS to Airplay music onto it. I got an app called Airspot that seems to resolve this but I guess that this is as good as it can get?
2. This is the main sticky: I can't get the S8 to be seen by my Volvo as a USB device. I have a V40 with 4 options being Disc, Aux, Ipod and USB. My iphone obviously worked as an ipod but the S8, even when I select USB can't be seen. It charges, but it just doesn't show anything - it just says "connect usb" - any ideas?

Thanks

Sounds like the Volvo supports Apple Carplay but not MirrorLink or Android Auto.
I have the same problem with my Honda Jazz. It supports Apple CarPlay, but not Android Auto.
MirrorLink is essentially useless as the apps I use don't support it.

The android devices do not go into a USB Storage mode. The USB setting on the car is for normal flash drives. When connecting the S8, it will be in MTP mode so it will not be compatible with the USB Setting. In this instance it has nothing to do with carplay or android auto

Yeah that's pretty much how I understand it - and there doesn't seem to be a way to do this. Bluetooth works though so I guess that has to be good enough.
