Hi Guys

Just got my Hunter to 70 a few days ago and kitted him out with the new 2.4 70 blue rep gear.

Did my first Kara run with the guild and got the Horseman X-bow and Neck, the T4 gloves and my first badges.

Given that this is not my main, I am also lving a priest atm and the expansion is in the wings, what would you spend badges on first given that I can probably only get a couple of hundred in the time I have for this toon.

I am inclined to skip all and go for the X-bow.

If i were you I'd find a decent Hunter spreadsheet and find out what gives you the biggest boost to Badge ratio.
Thats what I did with my Rogue.

Xbow (150) + Bloodlust Brooch (41) + few mail badge upgrades (75 each?) or Xbow (150) + 2h Axe (150)

What trinkets do you currently have? and what spec are you?

If i were you I'd find a decent Hunter spreadsheet and find out what gives you the biggest boost to Badge ratio.
Thats what I did with my Rogue.

Maximising hunter dps is a bit complicated, all depends on the spec. BM = Crit + AP + 2.7-2.8 gun/bow, MM = AP then crit + 3.0 gun/bow, Surv = As much agility as possible + any gun/bow that gives more agi :p

Yes I guess it's never an easy answer..

But you did pick the 2 items I had my eye on being X bow and Bloodlust Brooch.

Spec is BM/MM hybrid 31/30 pretty much as he finally wound up from leveling.

Haven't experimented with spec's yet have really only had time to get rid of a few greens and try get faction rep up in a number of places, as I kinda power leveled him from mid 40's were he had been dormant for months.

btw am Dwarf so have always used guns not sure if this would influence a decision do have Don Santo's rifle which I have been using interchanging with the X -bow but with the crit on the gun throwing in randomness its hard to see which is better at the moment.

And for me only other weapons I will have access to for this toon are in Kara and ZA.

Biggest single upgrade for you would be the x-bow. 150badges are a tall order though if you don't plan to raid regularly...
Go for a different speck as well, BM 41, 20 MM ?? it is discussed on this forum just use the search function.
Also check what gear upgrades you can get from PVP, arenas etc. For example the arena S3 helm is really decent even for pve, or even the cheap hunter s3 2H axe...

There is a Hunter DPS lord on this forum here somewhere. He has helped alot of hunters, I just can't recall he's username though

I'd farm the sh.t out of AV and grind some honour, with Season4 around the corner(2 weeks). Best would probably to start losing some arenas for the S3 2H axe, grind honour for the S2 xbow, and check out which heroics drop hunter mail loot epics and farm those heroics in between, killing 2 birds with 1 stone (get some badges + the chance of an epic mail drop). If you can, try and get some geared peeps in your guild to drag you along to KZ and maybe even ZA - ZA in particular has some orsm mail hunter loot from the first couple bosses and they're pretty ezmode too.

Thanks for comments.

Although AV and arena has crossed my mind, I refuse to wear any welfare epic's :D out of principle until Blizz fix pvp. I would rather wear pve blues that be another noob S1 geared Hunter.

Kara badge runs are no problem so will get my 22 badges a week at least.

The hunter lord is known as Pornolio :p

He's helped Werries and I ALOT with gear advice, talent setups and macros :)

I also need some info on this

I have S1 legs and Wolfslayer Sniper Rifle
I have enough badges to buy the 100 badge Mail Legs or the X-Bow.

The S1 are not to crappy, but the badge legs give 70 more ap, 15 more Hit Rating, 18 more agil and has a blue and yellow socket

The Rifle is cool, but the x-bow gives 14 dps and some more hit rating.

Does anyone know of a web-site where i can fit these items and check what would be the best for my Hunter

Baahh all this flattery **g**

In answer to your question, the new badge items are insane. You can pretty much kit yourself out in full badge gear and walk into BT. Its that good.

The X-bow from badges is verrrrry good, BUT steer clear of it if you wanna tinker with haste. You might just end up in the famous "black hole" of dps nerf.
I talked to a hunter the weekend, that couldnt understand why his raid dps went down to 1000 from 1500. So yes, if you dont stack too much haste, and your current weapon is lacking, then the badge bow is a very good solid investment.

If you want to compare stats on different items or see just how good they are for you, as mentioned, the famous spreadsheet from cheeky is available online.
You can also check out maxdps.com as they have added BM support but I have to warn you, dont become too much of a spreadsheet hunter and base all your gear around these sites + spreadsheets. Its good up to a point but there just is too much other variables that make hunter dps next to impossible to calculate eg. Improved aspect of the hawk proc's, trinket proc's, haste and the negative impact latency have... Most of the time our latency is not rock solid on eg. 40 ms, it goes up and down, even if only by 50 ms, its one massive obstacle which we never really get around.

Those sites are guidelines, nothing more, nothing less. One bug I found and reported to the author of maxdps.com, is the importance and miss calculation of Hit Rating on the site. An example is, if my HR is on 140 (which is 2 points short of reaching the cap), it would tell me, rather get trinket X with 30 HR, than trinket with only 90 AP or trinket with 36 Crit. Now this is incorrect, since going for trinket X with 30 HR, it pushes my HR waaay over the cap limit, so I am wasting stats which I could have invested in rather boosting my crit / ap. So thats just one example. He mentioned it should be fixed in the coming weeks, if not already by now.

I would say, weigh up your current stats, look at the bow, leggings etc, and see what will give you the best possible stats boost. Remember, its not just about having a good weapon ! Its about having a good all rounded balanced build if you wanna break the dps meters. :p

Anyway, back to work for me

cheers
