I am planning to upgrade my parents' plain analogue line in the (very) near future to HomeDSL192. Now I would just like to get my facts in a row. Since Everything will remain the same for my parents I am not gonna pay for the normal analogue line rental, just the DSL part.
If the line is installed on July 15th this is what will be added to my parents first bill after installation :

R404 - ADSL installation
R270 - Reduced rental for August
R[(330/31) * 16] - Pro-Rata rental for month of installation.

Anything missing ? Am I right with the pro-rata thing ?

Yes, you're correct re: the pro rata rate. I was charged 271 ex vat pro rata for the line including the full amount and mine was installed on the 9th of june...

Aha good, no unexpected surprises (touch wood).

I'm planning to sign up with Axxess for a 5GB account. At R279 p/m I reckon its a bargain.

Oh this is all as soon as I get our frikkin phone line changed to a residential one. This is quite a story: Only now, after at least 19 years, I make the discovery that my dad had a bussiness phone line installed back then. I was wondering why our phone bill always showed a total of R112,xx for just rental. R101 for the line and a couple of bucks p/m to split a single phone to three different points in our house. How insane is it to charge a monthly fee to split one line  . It sounds a bit far fetched even for telkom, but thats the blissfully ignorant impression my dad is under.

Anyway that will all be sorted out when I get my dad to make the change to a residential line.
