It would be the most senseless thing ever, to have a CVT mimic shift points in auto mode. In manual mode, sure.

Would be nice if they could eliminate the annoying hum of high revs that stay constant.

And once again you shout to the world that you have never driven one!!
The Forester is one of the lowest revving cars that you will find at 120 - just on 2000 rpm. All you are doing is repeating what you have read or heard about the old CVT.
As I said the other day, you and QT will always disagree with me, no matter what I say - I will leave what I have said, plus the tests I have posted, so that others can make a more informed decision.
I'm outta here.
Apparently they have.
Shame. Must be difficult to always be right... Even when you are clearly very wrong.
I try to stay objective (though I have been accused of being biased). You on the other hand... I have nothing against Subaru. They make great cars and they possibly make the best CVT in the business, although it is time they move to dual clutch for the WRX and 9-speed auto for the off-road vehicles. One thing is very clear however, even from looking at your "proof". Their CVT does not have virtual shifts in auto mode. Why would they do that? Then they might as well have changed it to a normal auto. How many clients did you BS with this story?
You clearly choose to ignore everything that I have said, and simply put your own spin on it.
You have also painted a picture of me as some sleazy salesman who couldn't wait to bullshi t the next poor customer that came in. Anything but the truth, and I take exception to the fact that you are implying that.
In whatever words you want - their CVT "appears" to change gears, but totally seamlessly if driven on a light throttle - I have said, as have the guys who tested them. I also never sold a customer a Forester without a test drive in which I demonstrated both the smooth light throttle changing, as well as its ability to "kick down" if you floor the throttle. That type of kick down will result in the car catching up with its revs until you ease off the throttle.
As for the Forester needing a 9 speed auto...why? Or do "decent" off roaders have to be the same as your Jeep Grand Cherokee?
Finally, and lets make this absolutely clear for anyone who stumbles across this particular "discussion" - You, personally, never had a problem with anything that I said, and in fact, usually backed me up quite vehemently, until I dared to criticise a Jeep. Your petty nit picking of anything that I have said since then has been nothing if not constant and predictable. Think about it.
Geez, can this be put to rest already?
I think that all of this is lost in translation. Maybe this might help.
Thank you, but we are dealing with QT and Brenden_E, both of whom have rather sick agendas when it comes to me. Neither of them will accept whatever anyone produces when it comes to a car that I happen to like and believe in. BTW - your link will "force" them to put you in my camp which makes life very dangerous for you should you dare to write anything that conflicts with their "opinions" - God help you if you appear to back Fazda and not Quantum Theory and Brenden_E - your life on this forum is from now on targeted.![]()
Persecution complex at your age? I have no agenda against you. Why would I? I have an agenda against false information... which you are an expert in posting.
Wow. That is a first for me. Maybe I should ask the mods to clean the thread...
What's a first?
The fact that you troll whatever I say to make me look stupid, or the fact that you are being put on ignore?
WTF... Troll? Get a life.
Don't worry, I have one, just amazing how you and your mate 'pop" up with a negative comment whenever I dare to mention a Subaru - if that's not trolling then what is?
