What was your introduction to the Crackberry?

At the beginning of 2008, I was given an 8310 at work, since I was being asked to support the BES server. I wasn't amused at first - camera wasn't as nice as my SE, etc., but I figured I could always get something else when I upgraded my own contract. I loved it though, and was even more delighted to get a Bold 9000 at work. Finally, earlier this year, I got a 9700 on my own contract upgrade.

I'm ashamed to say that my love for BlackBerry was only recently discovered with the 8520. I thought I had found my one true love in my Nokia N81, but boy, was I wrong! Lmao! The moment I lay my hands on my Fresh Out The Box BlackBerry 9 months ago, it was love at first sight. My baby is everything I've ever needed, and I'm not planning on going anywhere!

First bb was the old school 8700. Got it at my job on BES. Was hooked on the push mail function and PIN's

I met the guys who launched the BB in SA a long time ago, they showed me a device with black and white display that could run java apps. This was in the days before your could surf the internet on your phone, they showed me how you could send free pin messages to other BB users and read your email on your phone. At the time all this seemed pretty useless to me but it planted a seed in my head.

Years later when my Dad won a BB I truly understood the power of the phone.

Bwana, that 5820 looks like it came out of the 90's, not 2005! Amazing how they've upgraded in recent years.

Got my Bold 9700 couple months now and its been absolutely great! I dnt regret not getting one a long time ago. I remember seeing them in pamphlets and thinking to myself who would want to answer a phone that looks like that in public! It would have been as good as a cordless phone to me because I would have only taken it out of my pocket(if it fitted) in the privacy of my own home. But the 9700... Now this is something else!

I only became interested in BlackBerry last year when they brought out the 8520 hand sets but only took ownership in April 2010, as I was always using my hand set on a daily basis to surf the web, irc, etc, added up in the end was spending like R30 or more just on data, made the wise move when I moved over to the 8520 and purchased BIS I was stunned at not getting charged extra, once BlackBerry came out with twitter app, I upgraded immediately to the BB 9700 , once 9800 Torch comes out I will purchase the hand set but must admit what keeps me addictive to BlackBerry is the (BlackBerry Internet Service) without it I would probably not support BlackBerry, but what I am hearing about BlackBerry pulling their socks and catching a wake up call, might also get a BlackPad if it includes BIS.....

BIS is freedom to do what you like whenever you like, now all family,friends,colleagues,everyone I know are all signing up for BlackBerry, once you explain to them about BIS, social media networks, email, etc....

In my books blackberry is #BrandPlus

Early last year: I wanted internet. So I had to buy a 3G dongle and I just realised a gf was quite expensive as I had to buy prepaid airtime almost daily. That was when I decided I would buy myself a smartphone. I had to choose between the storm and the iphone. I looked at the contracts at vc but they were so expensive (I think it was because of the satnav). Then at the mtn store they introduced to the bold 9000 and I fell in love. It had everything I wanted 3G modem, free on device internet and I big screen to read my online manga on.

Now a few of my friends have a bb, and BBM is getting more important to me. The BIS and the BBM might be the only reason why I will go on with the BB brand and their devices just looks prettier than the droids etc (maybe not the iphone) with its leather finishes etc.
