First Step

IMO, you can start by teaching your self first.
Get familair with the stuff, Take an old server and start installing Server 2003, Exchange, get DHCP to work, get Active directory to work.

Create users, groups ect ect, Getting to know the basics of Server 2003 is realy not that hard to overcome. ISA on the other hand, replace it :-) Get squid or something.

Ok resurrection time.

So finally management wants me to become the internal IT support. So here is my plan to become somewhat proficient in this field.

The courses below is what i think based upon research would aid me in fulfilling this role:

CompTIA A+
CompTIA Network+
CompTIA Server+
CompTIA Security+
CompTIA Storage+
CompTIA Cloud Essentials

MTA Database

MSCE Server Infrastructure
MSCE Desktop infrastructure
MSCE Data Platform

What are your thoughts? They are also planning to open a IT support side to the business in the future.
