Good day

I need advice I just reversed my car with the driver's door opened, the door is not damaged outside. It's damaged inside some bolts and nuts the is a noise when you close the door so the door can not close properly, but everything is working windows and mirrors. I'm with king price I need to claim so they can fix the door. It's first time claiming how do I go about it. I'm with standard bank broker so right now they already closed.

I feel terrible and stupid so please no funny comments. Just need advice I think I will only speak to the broker Monday morning.

If maybe someone can tell me how do I upload pictures here, I will update some pictures. If you don't know you can't tell the door is damaged, you will only hear when you open the door.

Send an email to the broker so its the first thing he sees on monday , might make his day, but good luck on that premium increase.
And seriously how hell did you do that! you don't need to open the door to look back the mirrors are there !
Its friday dude, you really expect no funny comments

I guess it's true accidents happen when you at least expect it. I'm not stressed I don't know where my mind was at for me to end up reversing with the door opened. I know my premium is going to increase.

I'm thinking maybe I should go to Honda since the door, is not physically damaged maybe they will be able to fix whatever is broken inside. One of my colleague who drive the same car had to replace the back door, cost him R12 500.

Hasn't your broker or insurer claim forms and procedures on their website?

Best way it always to send the claim form with at least one quote to repair.

Thank you for that information I think Monday morning I will go to Honda and get a quote. If it's reasonable which I doubt I will fix it myself if it's more than my excess fee I will have to claim.

So I need to know should I inform the broker that I may claim, or wait until Monday then I can inform the broker after I get the quote. I'm just worried since it's my first time claiming, that he may say why I didn't inform him early if I decide to claim.

Get quote and then contact broker make certain of your excess and decide to claim or not.

Okay thank you I will do that Monday and I will ask if I need more information. Looking at the door I don't think it will need to be replaced, nothing is broken just that the door is slightly shifted hence its making a noise when opening. I'm not mechanic the door need to be removed and put back properly. But what do I know I will the guys at Honda Monday.

Update: I called my friend he fixed the door, it's closing properly now no more noise. Just that at the top the is a small space, beside that space the door is fine. He said I will have issues when it rains, I need to take the car to a panel beater/Honda dealer so the door can be removed and put back properly.

By look of things it's not going to cost more than R1000, but I know the guys at Honda they will want to screw me over.

Sorry to burst your bubble but you need to report it to your insurer and it won't cost r1k, they will want to replace the door and rightly so

Honestly the door does not need to be replaced by I know the guys at Honda, Will say the door need to be replaced. So I guess I'm going to learn the hard way, right now my phone can't read the sim card. I guess today was not my day what a bad way to end of my day.

Why report it if no other parties were involved? When I don't claim I don't report. Insurance like fine text and they usually ask if you've had any claims in the past so and so years not if you'vebeen in accidents.

There should be a 24/7 number to call. Otherwise what would you do if you were stranded in the middle of nowhere on a weekend after hours?

It's also weird that King Price would have a broker? They are a direct insurer after all? More than likely you need to call them directly.

This is stuff you should save in your phone. Along with policy numbers etc.

You can report it without claiming.

It just covers your ass should something bigger be wrong down the line.

If you had no claims you have no claims history.

Thank you guys for the advice the door is fixed, the guys at Honda helped me free of charge. They just pulled the door less than 15 minutes it was done, the door just needed some man power.

If I had to replace the door I was going to pay R12500 including labour. I have a broker he work at standard bank so if I need to claim I have to call him first.
