Hi,

Looking to see if FirstShop made an honest mistake (and if I should give them the benefit of the doubt)? Or not? I wanted to order more stock if this delivery worked out.

The problem is shipping takes +-4 days, so incorrect delayed orders become an issue and this becomes annoying to rectify.

What have your experiences been?

I ordered:

HUB-R02 (the faster 2.5gbps adapter)
https://www.firstshop.co.za/product...45-2-5gbps-adapter-01-02-01-hub-r02-gy-166373

They sent:

HUB-R01 (the slower 1gbps adapter)
https://snatcher.co.za/choetech-hub...adapter-cord-network-nickel-plated-connector/

I have two orders about a year apart, no issues both times..

Seems like an honest mistake..

Yeah to be fair they've been pretty responsive over email, so I'd like to give them the benefit of the doubt - but the back and forth and shipping delays are an unexpected PITA.

Unless you live in the arse end of nowhere, how the hell do they get to a 4 day turnaround time on shipping?

Ordered on the 26th October (albeit in the afternoon), it only arrived this morning.

So 3.x business days (plus the weekend if they had shipped before) is more accurate I guess. I'm in a major hub CPT.

I blame the world cup, suppliers closing and all that - but it is slower than other merchants.

skill issue

NORMAL.
I ordered a powerbank from them, they sent me one without an acer charger cable, they changed the info on the website (!!!!) from including the cable to not including the cable.

I fought with them for I think 2 month, until I gave up.
(I don't actually have an acer laptop but I thought this cable can be used for something else).

Looks like they've gone quiet on me :X3: I'll give it till the end of the week then I'm doing a chargeback with my bank.

Consensus - stay away, these clowns don't even know what they're selling - horrible customer experience. Wrong product received, now they want to issue a store credit and not a refund. Just don't use them ever, this is painful.

Good day

Please note that the R02 isn’t available.

The R01 and R02 are the same it just carries a different part number in different regions.

The USA and Africa get the R01 and Europe the R02.

Please advise if you are willing to return the unit for credit.

---

They most definitely aren't the same.

The R01 is a 1000mbps adapter, the R02 is a 2500mbps adapter.

https://choetech.com/products/hub-r...macbook-pro-2015-macbook-chromebook-pixel-etc

"Supports USB 3.1 data transfer rate of up to 5Gbps for 10/100/1000 Mbps Ethernet networks."

https://choetech.com/collections/hu...o-gigabit-ethernet-adapter-network-type-c-hub

"Obtain stable connection speeds up to 2.5 Gbps, downward compatible with 2.5 Gbps"

Ahhh yes, the standard "oh they're the same, just ignore the technical specifications for each product on the manufacturers site"...

Why the hell do companies do this sort of stupid shyte when selling technology products.

Yep - and the oh please print out 3 waybills, and box it back up, tape the box shut and be home for the courier (who we've informed to collect, without checking you're there).

Then we'll try to credit and NOT refund you - never ever ever will I consider FirstShop again, customer is very much not king.

Contrast this to GeeWiz who sent me a product with a dead PSU (DOA). They let me test the PSU with a multimeter, send them pics showing it's dead and then shipped me a replacement all within 2 days (without having to send the actual controller back for a full unit swap out).

Going to order from them again now.

Sadly this is how I know them and why I avoid them.

Have told the story before, but in short:

Ordered a large internal HDD from them,
Dead on arrival.
Sent back right away for replacement.
Receive an email, the item won't be swapped out as I opened the harddrive's screws - ruining the vacuum.
!?!? I did infact not open the drive, wtf.
Back and forth for months, finally managed to get a refund.

A blatant fraud attempt by them. Was so bizarre.

I shop a lot from Geewiz and only have good things to say. Shopped from Wootware today - that 1Tb Mushkin special is crazy good.
These two shops take client care seriously and deserve getting all the business. Firstshop can fly a kite.

Yeah that sort of thing is just not really on.

Takealot have a decent collection system in my opinion with minimal impact on the customers life (beyond having to return a product at least)

Update:
Still no refund, although FirstShop's courier did pickup their parcel last week.

Ordered from GeeWiz on Friday and I got 2.5gbps Unitek adapter today to test:

Service difference between the two shops is night and day.

FirstShop should be avoided at all cost.

Have you lodged a chargeback with your bank yet?
"Please note that your refund has been sent through to our accounts department for further processing.

Please allow few days for the amount to reflect."

^ So I've been without my money (or a viable product since the 26th of October) - fun times. I'll update when it clears as a reminder to all to steer clear of the **** show that is FirstShop.co.za :X3:
