Hi there, can anyone provide a recommendation for an honest person/company who can fit a factory-fitted immobiliser in my car? I live in Johannesburg. Thanks in advance.

Erm...it won't be factory fitted...if it wasn't fitted in the factory.

What car even comes without an immobilizer still?

Hmm, my insurance said it had to be factory fitted... a bit confusing as I told them it doesn't have one.

It's a second-hand Nissan Micra. So I'll rephrase my question: where in JHB can I get an immobiliser fitted?

TIA

Usual requirements would be factory fitted or VESA approved.

Factory-fitted means that it was fitted when manufactured.

You're probably looking for "aftermarket" and here your best bet is a VESA approved service provider.

Strongly recommend that you clarify their requirements and then look for the right service provider to get it done.

Awesome, thanks!

How sure are you that your Nissan Micra doesn't have an Immobiliser?

Most vehicles produced after 2001 had factory immobilisers fitted. They're deactivated by circuitry in the key. Meaning that if you got a new key cut and tried to use it, without the integrated circuitry the car wouldn't start.

This assumes the immobiliser wasn't bypassed at some point or another.

Ah ok. I'll check with Barlow World, where I bought the car. Thanks
