Similar thing happened to my ex-step-mother's family too... luckily only 1 story up, but they stood with their back against the railing to take a family pic - next I think like 4 or 5 of them were on the ground in the yard below.

Only a broken collar bone here and there I recall.

Unfortunately my ex-step-mother wasn't there, though I suspect she would have kept falling straight into the center of the earth and land spread legged onto Satan's gentleman area.
