100% - the path may be closed but the sign says "proceed at own risk". In my mind the only reason to properly close a path is to allow for erosion recovery, let people determine their own safety, as long as the dangers are pointed out.
CAPE TOWN - The man who led a group of hikers along a dangerous mountain path at the weekend insists he was not in the wrong, despite the fact that the route was off limits.
Anwar Adams is a City of Cape Town councillor and the President of the Hikers Paradise Hiking club.
He led 14 hikers along the Blinkwater Ravine on Sunday.
Five ended up seriously injured and had to be rescued.
That particular hiking route has reportedly been closed since 1982.
But Adams says there are no signs indicating the trail is off limits.
