Hey guys. I'm hoping someone could help me out a little I currently have a 4 Meg line through telkom. I stay just outside of East London and telkom has told us that the maximum line speed we can get is 4 megs through the copper lines so the only way to upgrade speed is to get wireless broadband but I am wondering if I should rather stay on a 4 Meg fixed line or if it would be better to go to a 8 Meg wireless line? I like to stream stuff and game so ping and stuff is quite important.

I have never had good latency and ping times with WiSP's. So if you a serious gamer then rather try different ISP's that offer DSL. Stay with the one that works best for you. Plus you might want to upgrade your DSL line. 4 Megs is a tad bit slow for streaming.

Also depends who your Wireless broadband provider will be. Some have terrible shaping and can destroy your ping (which is terrible for gamers especially) and others are great - but coverage dependent though. Also some wireless providers require serious costly installation and equipment. All this needs to be taken into consideration.

Telkom's LTE/LTE-A product or WISP? If it's LTE-A, try and find others in your neighborhood who are using it to check if the signal is all right/no congestion. Otherwise stay on the 4Mbps.
