I have a 4mbps Axxess home DSL service, and using a Billion 7404 ADSL router. I had been using Axxess's free DNS feature for months without any hassles.
Recently, i've added a new CCTV system and through i'll take on Axxess's Fixed IP service at R55pm.
The signup was quick and I've received the IP immediately. Axxess has instructions online with screenshots on how to set it up. I have done as per screenshot. I called Axxess support and it was all system go as they can see the account connected and the IP live. Note that I had to cancel the DNS service as it was conflicting (according to Axxess support).
I had previously created port forwarding in my router, and did all the necessary settings which worked well for months under the DNS or ADSL Dynamic IP.
When use the ADSL allocated IP, I can access all systems fine remotely from my 3G phone, and everything works perfectly.
However, anything I do to access the fixed IP, nothing works. I Googled 'what's my IP' and 9 out of 10 times the dynamic IP shows up, and seldom the fixed IP.
I tried accessing all ports via the Dynamic IP and it works perfectly, but nothing using the fixed IP.
I've approached Axxess support 4 times on this, and they keep telling me that their side is fine, i must check my router. Do I need to instruct my router that it has a fixed IP in its WAN and it must accept all requests for it? I searched the web and spent hours on the router going through each setting menu, and I do not see anywhere I can enter that the fixed WAN IP is the Axxess Fixed public IP.
There's two things which I think is the possible problem here:
1- I have not instructed the router to work with this fixed IP L2TP properly. If so, can anyone shed some light?
2- Axxess have somehow not linked that IP correctly to my dynamic IP or they aren't doing the natting properly.
Is anyone using the Axxess Fixed IP successfully? Can you perhaps guide me on what you've done to setup your router, and if I'm missing anything? Whatever it is, it's not listed in Axxess instructions.
