Hi,

Like the topic states: I've got a broken 650VA Proline UPS.
I broke it after I short circuit a power cord.

Its symptom is that it doesn't recognise the AC input any more, so it doesn't switch from backup power to AC power after being switched on.

I've already opened the old UPS to look for blown caps, but I wasn't able to see any. The circuit board didn't have any fuses either.
I haven't tested the relays or power resistors yet, and I'm not that keen on doing so since it'll probably take me more time to do that than the UPS is worth :(

Any suggestions as to what I should be looking for would be much appreciated.
I have studied Electrical Engineering, so I'm not exactly clueless at what I'm doing :)

Probably not worth the effort, but still a perfect specimen to play with.
Try tracing the circuit from the AC line. Test all components if possible in that line.
Might just be a blow diode or something.

i had the same problem with mine.. check where the AC power goes into the ups.. there is a fuse there that blows.. mine even had a spare fuse sitting in the container when you pull it out...

Thanks guys.

I really feel like an idiot for missing the fuse on the external connector. It looked exactly like the image dinkd posted, except that mine doesn't have a switch.

So my UPS is back and running again :D
