Fixing a wooden table

Thanks everyone. We quite like the rough finish of the table, but yeah, a lot of the solutions sounds like a lot of work.

Do you have other little holes in the table like the one bottom right in the first pic?
Could be woodworm but difficult to tell.
No, I think that's just a nail hole or something.

I'd do the epoxy thing, either way is gonna be effort or expenses..
Even though I try to avoid most epoxy YouTube videos, it was also the first thing that came to mind. Not sure how deep or long the gap is, but obviously it turns this into a project and not a quick fix, so... good luck (and have fun)!

Just leave it be. Its no work of art, the painted legs looks much worse. Maybe just scrape out that old wood filler, that looks awful.
If you really want to do something. Fill all the gaps and holes on the top with something and make it smooth. And then paint the whole table and legs in a modern style that matches the modern chairs.

Ah yes, that's also an option. Can be dyed yellowy brown to look like resin, it is pine after all...

I would turn it into a river table type thing.

Yea not all that new though, the resins are just becoming more affordable now for the masses.
That's true. Although one underestimates how much you need of it. Also the materials needed to prep. Then there is still sanding abd buffing.... So costs can rack up quickly. I don't like the look of resin in my house. I think it is cool as an art and hobby and to sell. But personally I prefer just wood.

Some stunning projects on YouTube though.

It looks the part, it is in your braai room? It got character. I dont know, but if you do restore it, try to avoid it looking like any generic table.
Yeah, it's outside under a lapa.
