I've seen falsh disk drives coming onto the market.... would the use of a flash disk for say an operating system drive help with performance? I'm thinking the seek times should be faster on a flash drive...

Windows Vista has this functionality (uses your flash drive as a cache/swap drive), but then again, rather use the few grands you would spend on Vista and buy more RAM. :)

Make sure you get a Flash Drive thats actually fast. The generic USB drives from most suppliers are however slow.

he is talking about hhd, hybrid hard drives, or perhaps the muchos expensive pure flash drives.
not readyboost for flash drives. this isnt a usb pendrive thing he is talking about

I'm not sure about performance but I'd assume (hopefully correctly) that it would increase laptop battery life.
