Hi all,

Need some help..... :D

I'm starting a new Web project, concept really, with a lot of potential. And the whole idea is centred around the main page. But it needs to by striking! Very graphical, but fast.

It is going to show a map, with items, which must enlarge when the mouse hovers above it, and then follow to links when you click on elements on the enlarged items. The items in themselves should have a subtle animation when idling (i.e. leafs of a tree shuffling in the wind, waves on the sea breaking, etc.)

Now my question is, based on the criteria listed below, what technology would be best suited. Flash, Another shockwave variant, Silverlight, something else??

Criteria:
- Run on PHP + MySQL.
- Screen must be scalable to browser's screen size
- Must run on PC's and tablets (smartphones as a bonus)
- Open source development pref.
- Cater for sound as well.
- Small download package (maybe moduled?)

Any good ideas?

Flash seems like a good option, but I need some advise on an open source Dev platform for it (And some good script tutorials!) :D

Thank you!!!

Tri

I am sure you can use html5 and jquery for this any reason why flash ?

Never use flash! Use HTML and a javascript framework of your choice

Thank for the replies. Could you maybe send me a link to some example sites you'd recommend using Jquery and HTML5. (With code :) )

You definately are confirming that Flash is not the way to go, but I haven't yet done anything in Jquery or Javascript graphic wise.
