Flashdisk problems

Some flashdisks have a softlock which can enable/disabled via a configuration program.

USB key = flash disk.

Somehow your flash disk activated it's write protect mode and hence the OS now says "Security Device" and now wants a password enter by the configuration program to unlock it.

Also had a problem at work with a collegue's flash disk - turns out he did not have administrator access on his user id on the network and the OS refused him access to the flash disk - doubt if this could be the problem though.
