Flashdisk problems

since Friday when I put in my flashdisk it's been showing "Security Device found" and won't let me get into it. What is the problem and how can I fix it?

Some have a lock setting on the device, perhaps its inadvertently been locked!

Some flashdisks have a softlock which can enable/disabled via a configuration program.

I didn't see a program when I loaded it onto my pc or the other pc

It is on the CDROM that came with the USB key.

nope it won't let me... I tried another 2 pc's both with xp and it still doesn't work

I didn't need a usb key... xp has plug and play funtions... and both win 98&xp picks it up as a Security Device

USB key = flash disk.

Somehow your flash disk activated it's write protect mode and hence the OS now says "Security Device" and now wants a password enter by the configuration program to unlock it.

Also had a problem at work with a collegue's flash disk - turns out he did not have administrator access on his user id on the network and the OS refused him access to the flash disk - doubt if this could be the problem though.

Had a number of flashdisks at work which gave this problem. Win2K managed to read them, XP not
