Flashing with legit software - Void warranty?

Quick one :

If one flashes phone software with legit software (or global), does it void the warranty?
 
depends, but usually yes, you break a "virtual" seal on the phone.

bye bye warranty, although like I said depends, sometimes there is a way to "unflash" it, and hopefully nobody notices;)

Yea I thought so too. Someone else said as long as official, it's alright. Just wanted to check

youd be surprised,
did a stint as a returns tech, dedicated program that checks lots of phones at once, for even the unflashing process
once its been detected, you get it sent back to you with a note, saying claim is rejected.

so dont be so sure about that
 
Why would it void warranty if it's official firmware?
Sure, I get it if it's rooted/custom rom/etc - still a big question mark but much more of a grey area.

I blame Samsung for this, with their stupid Knox crap, and calling it a warranty.

That's the question.

Some products are automatically rejected if touched any way, even with official but not from your own market. I have a feeling phones are one, but I'm curious

honestly, probably warranty is gone, imo, these shops when they fix your phone, plug in your phone to check for such things , even the "official" version.
just a symptom of the system we live with, ANY modification official or not, voids the warranty,

Played around with Sony Experia software previously. Loaded official firmware though, was not picked up by vodacom when sent the phone for warranty claim. Well I wouldn't say not picked up by them, maybe it was, but they honoured the warranty still.

Also loaded official samsung firmware on s8. Knox not tripped. Loaded unbranded versions as well. All official. Reverted to vodacom branded software mainly because volte and wifi calling available with theirs. Not sure if warranty is messed up. Knox is still intact though
 
myself as well, sent in a samsung pocket, with flashing, and this wasn't detected, just exchanged my main-board,
and gave it back to me with another board on it,

so again, depends, you could get REALLY lucky, and nobody suspects a thing, and your warranty is honored,
but where I used to work, we'd phone you back to explain why your claim is rejected, and send you on your way kindly....
honestly was a nightmare, as how do you explain to a gogo her phone is now worthless?

Yeah .. Sony is nice like that. Essentially you can load any official ROM and not have too many hoops to jump through. All my Sony's run the NOBA region (nordic combined) - cause of the lack of bloatware (I don't need DSTV and SuperSport and Showmax etc built onto my ROM thanks).

Also sent the phone away to Vodacom for a repair and had no issues with that. Maybe I was just lucky, or the phone was so stuffed, they did the repair and reflash before even checking.

That's the other thing, I really think they flash firmware as a first option lol. And then move on to detecting hardware faults after that.

See? Knox again. It's not a warranty indicator. It's a security container assurance
