Flatbed Scanner Alternative

The whole reason I am asking is because the HP 5590 is giving us endless problems; whether it's the actual hardware itself that is failing or the crappy and slow software that freezes it just isn't working out for us. So I need a good alternative that can rapidly scan high quality documents into tiff format without crashing every 5 minutes.

Just get one of those multi-function printers.
Scan, print, etc. in one.

Flat beds don't last forever.

I have the 210, works as expected even after not using it for a long time.

You puts da paper, press da button and out somes a scan! Magic I tell ya, magic!

Bonus is not having to worry about power, makes it more portable.

I confess to having made some terrible scans over the years, but can't recall it ever crashing on me.

Can't comment on the HP though, it is unknown to me ..

Not all our users have access to an MFP however you gave me an idea for those that do. As it turns out I can set up a custom scan-to-email profile for them to scan the documents they need to TIFF and I found the option so that it emails the scans as individual TIFF files rather than a multipage TIFF. WIN! :)

And I agree, but I do believe new units fresh out the box should last a while and not give users endless problems the day after I install them. :/

That's different.
I didn't realize that was the case.

Why tiff?
Pdf should be waaaaay smaller.

My HP MFP is great, you can use the flatbed or a page feeder, never had issue with it in windows or linux.

It has something to do with the way things were initially set up with our ERP system. Basically at some point these scans are uploaded to a database and when they need to be viewed they are presented in a browser using the AlternaTIFF plugin.

As for why it was done like this I have no idea.
