Hey all,

We have a flatroof with bitumen based torch on waterproofing. It has a mineral type stone finish (dark grey/ black)on the top which looks really nice (Viapol Techno Mineral), however the slab is heating up like mad and radiating into the house. Inside temperatures are close to 30C in the peak of summer, stays hot way into the night. Seems there was not insulation installed between the torchon and the slab. We were considering doing ceiling insulation indoors, but does not solve slab heating up (higher cost).

I want to paint it with a product that is more UV/heat reflective. I've been looking at Plascon Nuroof or ABE Silvacote. Which one do you recommend? Are there other options to consider? We are based in Cape Town.

Thanks

Cover the slab with solar panels.
