I need help!!!
In flightsim 2004 i cant set the graphics properly. When I play the game it seems to be using software rendering instead of hardware so the graphics are k@k. I cant find a setting to change resolution or anything. @ the display settings tab it wont let me slide the graphics up higher either!?!?!?!?!?!?! i have got a Radeon 9600xt

any help would be appreciated

There is a settings option from the main menu, and from there you have quite a few options for the graphics. Screen Res, level of detail, complexity of clouds, distance to horizon, land and water detail. RTFM to sort out how to get there.

Just a question on your expectations - what are they? The default terrain in MSFS is better in the USA - and in particular Hawaii. The South African terrain looks nothing like what you'd expect JHB or CTN to look like. For that you'll need to down load some freeware terrain from someone like Aeroworx off the AVSIM site. You can buy an update from some company in Cape Town but I'd suggest that it is way over priced for what you get and does cause conflicts with other terrain add ons.

There isn't an awful lot of photorealistic terrain available for SA. I've seen Bloemfontein. It also only looks good at around 3500 feet or higher above it.

which flight sim are you talking about? On mine it doesnt have any resolution settings

Start up MSFS2004. You get a main menu. Look for the option that says Settings or General Settings - relying on memory for exact wording. Select that. From there you'll have all the options you want including the ability to set you resolution from the default 800x600 to 1024x768 or whatever other option takes your fancy. You'll have choices as to the level of detail, shadows, reflections, sun glare, etc. etc.

FS2004 used to work fine on my old pc with some Nvidia 32mb graphics card.
i did a upgrade and im using a Radeon 9250 and it still worx fine.
u can download the FS2004 update from

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...8c-ea69-476b-a276-618c4ab52aaf&displaylang=en

thats jus an update, do wat Albereth has said regarding the settings.
Please note that the update is only if u using Microsoft Flight Simulator v 9.0.
U can chk this by pressing "alt" during flying click on "help" then click on "about MFS" it will update ur version to 9.1.

guys i dont know what the Fuk is happening. I will email you a screenshot of the display settings tab if you dont believe me, it doesnt have any resolution settings! It seems that it is running in 640*480 ATM.

You could also try reinstalling. If you upgraded your GPU after installing it may have done the whole optimise graphics thing already. Maybe it still thinks you have the old card.

maybe, it has all the tell tale signs of safemode but i am not selecting it
Just making sure, I meant fs2004 safe mode, not windows, in case you didn't check the link :) Since you're screwed anyway (and possibly about to reinstall), does "reset defaults' do anything, like showing res settings again ?

I am capped now so cant post screenshots, i will next month though. I use no-cd patches for all of my games so do you think that that could be a problem?

no-cd is a patch tht allows u to play without inserting the cd all the time? if yes thn tht cud be the error if u did a custom install. cos the game reads the graphic files from the cd.
i dnt use the cd to play bt tht was done from installation, no patch or anything. it uses up like 3gb of my hard drive tho. try uninstallin the no-cd patch n try the game like tht.

i think it is installed on full, i will reinstall and try again.

Choose 'Settings' then 'Display' then 'Hardware'

Failing which pack it all up and put it away. Maybe you're just not meant to play/use it.

ok people here are some screenshots.

first is of the settings tab
settings

second is of the display tab
display

can you please tell me where "hardware" or "resolution" is?

On your last screen 'display' there are (should be) 4 tabs across the top. The furtherest one is labelled 'hardware'. This is where you set the resolution. Your screen shots look like they have been edited. Where did you get the software?

I see that you have everything way down - have you considered trying to reset defaults?

And have you reinstalled? - Completely, i.e. you've removed any residual information left after you removed the installtion you currently have.

but i got it as ISO's. So did somebody fiddle with the cd's?
