Flightsim & Vista?

Any of u guys play MS Flight Sim on a Vista pc?
One of my colleagues used to have a 1.7Ghz Centrino HP laptop 512Mb RAM, intel o/b graphics, played MS Flight Sim 9 without issues (maybe not on very Hi res, I would assume). This had Win XP Sp2 on.
I recently replaced the laptop with a new Dell, 2.2Ghz Core2duo, 2Gb RAM, with GeForce 8400 video. It came with MS Vista as OS.
I'd have thought this is a way better machine than the old one, so should play Flightsim much better on higher resolution.
Sounds like, when he has Flight Sim in Windowed mode, there are terrible screen refresh delays (like minutes).
U can switch to full screen, so the program clearly hasn't frozen, just the screen refresh delays, in game play, u know like serious lagging in the game.
Its got Vista SP1, with latest drivers for video, etc.
Contacted Microsoft (I mean its a MS game!), they say it cannot be Vista , muct be problem with the configuration of the machine and/or drivers.
Tried this on another VIsta pc, same issues.
Didn't have it on XP......
Anybody got any ideas why the lagging in Windowed mode in Vista?
We are very much considering formatting the laptop and putting XP on.

Have u tried running it in 32 bit windows compatibility mode?

Have u tried updating the vga drivers and dropping the vga settings ingame? If you still have issues try xp and that will tell you for sure if the problem was vista.

If it is FSX, you need to install the service packs ( one and two ) If you running FSX with acceleration you dont need SP2. I run FSX of a Vista Ultimate machine , i have a 8600GT Gc and 2GB ram on a 2.6 Quadcore Cpu. She works fine

PS. Dont downgrade your laptop from Vista to XP. Packard Bell and Acer voids your warranty apparently if its not included in the package..the Xp option that is....
