My mom was moved to a different room in a retirement home. Getting her phone line moved proves to be a challenge Telkom seem unable to overcome in these times. We have been waiting for weeks for a migration to FLLA. Is there an alternative - such as buying a device and plugging a prepaid simcard into it? Needs to be a 'desktop like' model that looks like and works like a landline phone, mom lives with dementia and has limited ability. Whatsapp voice etc is not a practical option.

I think this is the closest that you will get to something suitable at this stage:

Update:

Or maybe this:

(This is one of the models that Telkom have used for their FLLA service.)

Here is another (cheaper) option that should work:

I also saw that Huawei ETS3125i phone but unfortunately it appears to be out of stock.

Thanks for the info everyone. If someone knows of a walkin shop - CT area - that has any of these please share.

The best alternative is to port the Telkom landline number to a VOIP provider like Freshphone (http://freshphone.co.za), and get an LTE router and a VOIP phone and run the VOIP phone over the internet connection provided by the LTE router. Bonus is you save R200 a month on the Telkom landline rental which you can use to pay for the LTE connection.

If you need a telkom FFLA phone . I got one. R500. You can use a telkom sim

Thx all, closing this thread - the phone is no longer needed.
