I actually started developing something similiar a while ago, and took it up again on Sunday. I am downloading and will have a look.

First impressions:

1) Nice interface, exactly what I had in mind, although it seems a bit sluggish
2) The program could not locate covers for any of the 20+ movies in my movie directory (I know they are on IMDB, and yes, I am connected)
3) I could not launch the movies I added but I was unsure as to whether I am clicking o the right box since there is no text description underneath (a dialog popped up asking for the directory)
4) After returning, my mouse cursor vanished and I used Alt-F4 to quit.

So, never figured out how to scroll or do most of the stuff since it can't find the pictures for my movies.

BTW, what is the Tarantula Media Center? I googled it but could not find anything.

ok... well it is a early beta, but i can't understand why it wouldn't update your covers ?

what are your PC specs ruan567?

Tarantula was it's previous incarnation, this one is partly based on it...

how many folders did you add ? 1 (The root) or all of your movie folders separately ?

Ok ive tested it on my work PC and everything works !

I don't even have movies on the pc just created fake folders with fake avi files, lol

I have to admit that it isn't as smooth like on my quad core at home, but it's Working 100%.

So I need guys with Core-2-duo's to please test the speed for me! Report back your hardware setup (CPU, RAM & GFX Card) and tell me what FPS you get (Press Ctrl + C to get the console window)

Thanx,
Keeper

c'mon i need some feedback here, i'm coding my ass off to develop a kickass, free media browser and you guys cant take 2 minutes out of your time to test it.....:(

screw you guys! :D

what, can't be... ruan567 ran it succesfully but failed on the task, which means I have failed (unless of course, a few other people don't have any problems and ruan is just being a n00b....hehe)

if it's corrupted the 2nd time i'll re-upload wayne - THANX for the interest in floop, and if there are any other guys that are willing to beta the new version every 2 weeks or so, i'll add ur names in the credits.

Linoman I bet you're dying to beta this :D

ok i got this blue screen thing with like blocks on it. i think my pc cannot take it as the update says it cannot load the covers, i am sure its my pc and not your programme if it works for the other guys.

ok, what you then do is:

1) Click on "Media".
2) Add your Main Movie folder and click Accept.
3) Click on "Get Covers" and let it download a few covers.
4) When you get back to the browser a few covers will be displayed, and if you have more than 14 items you are able to scroll around much like an iPhone (Grab and slide the covers)
5) Click on a movie, and click on "Play"

See if that works ;)

Ok guys, i've just finished the Media Information Coding - It now shows Everything on the movie! Release Date, Rating (In stars), Trivia, Plot Summary, etc, etc

I just need some guys Beta Testing this - You might even use it when i'm done with it!

Here's a screenshot of what the info Window looks like:
