Lekota said the two DA MPLs joining the ANC -- provincial chairman Kent Morkel, and Kobus Brynard, a member of the provincial executive -- were genuinely patriotic South Africans.

Others not in the ANC should reflect on the usefulness of remaining in political parties and formations that "can only criticise", expending energy that could be positively expended if they joined the majority, which was inside and behind the ANC.

"Resistance Is Futile. You Will Be Assimilated"

This floor crossing crap should stop, i vote for a party, and some idiot takes my vote to the party i "DID NOT WANT TO VOTE FOR". I'm finished with voting.

I agree.

If "party A" won those seats, then they should keep those seats.

Whats to stop the ANC from paying off most of the other parties members to carry their seats over?

Democracy se gat!

I agree with you.

Then again, democracy in this country is considerably different when compared to other international democratic countries...

Because we have proportional representation our vote goes to a party, not an individual and should therefore remain with the party. If an individual leaves a party they should lose their seat. If they try to run off with our votes they should be shot. Or have an accident, like falling on a knife.

I wished politicians had some honour. What kind of person sells out his voter base like this?

ANC rolls out welcome mat for DA big guns

Morkel, who was facing a DA disciplinary investigation, was recently deployed to the provincial council, which means that the ANC majority in the province is increased to 26 seats, compared with the 11 seats of the DA. Morkel is the son of former Western Cape premier and one-time DA mayor of Cape Town, Gerald Morkel.

His brother, Craig, formed his own Progressive Independent Movement party after being suspended by the DA for his involvement in the Travelgate scandal at Parliament.

Glad to see that everyone concerned is beyond reproach.
