Have any of you guys tried this yet? Saw it @ PnP the other day. We still have half a tub left of our marg ... but curious about this one. Not sure I even remember what real butter tastes like.

So ... any here tried this? Is it nice?

It has an halal stamp on it :p

Then buy some lurpak to remind yourself!

I had a look at it this weekend when @ PnP Hyper. I checked the ingredients and it only has 1% buttermilk or someting in it. For the price ... you might aswell buy actual butter? My sister told me that she asked her gym instructor and he said butter, just like animal fat is great ... she can eat it no problems.

What I dont like about real butter though (apart that it is more expensive) .... is that it is so hard! Anyway to keep it soft?

Mix it with grapeseed oil, that's what my mother does to keep butter spreadable in winter. I don't eat butter or marg so I won't know what it tastes like.

AND TIS WHY BWANA HAS GOT IT IN FOR ME YOU BIETS!!!!!

:p:p

Seriously though Shaun ... what do you use? Margarine or butter? If butter, do you keep it outside in a container to keep it soft? I remember my ouma had a little butter thing made of glass. I cant remember though if it was kept in the fridge or in the cuboard . I was very little still.

Neither. Used to be marge in previous years.

My mum also had a glass thingy that she stored butter in. Those days butter was actually butter and not the cr@p we get today.

But what is the crap we have today? I checked the ingredients of the different butter brands and they all had cows milk listed as the ingredients ... and nothing else. Only other thing that I saw was Springbok salted butter. Did your mom keep it outside of the fridge? What do you use now instead?

I have nfi. But nothing tastes the same anymore. Before if you baked a cake using butter you could taste it. Now its just meh.

She used to keep it out the fridge but it used to get finished fairly quickly then so it never used to go bad or anything.

As a spread I prefer marg cos it spreads easily. But for baking it is butter only.

I only use Lurpak Salted butter. It is lovely!! For cooking I use unsalted. Best quality and taste in my opinion. I don't know what margarine tastes like, always grew up on real butter in our house.

mmm ja see ... in our house we dont use a lot .... so if kept outside ... it might go off. :-(

Why don't you get a little glass container and just decant some butter in there for a few days use. Keep the rest in the fridge and decant as you go along.

That of course is the logical thing to do. Why did I not think of that. God ... sometimes I wonder how I manage to stay alive. :p
