Kimberley - Fly Blue Crane launched its maiden flight from OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg to Bloemfontein, Kimberley and Nelspruit on Tuesday.

The airline, which will sell tickets at a rate of 15 to 20 percent cheaper than its competitors, will officially start commercial flights on Thursday.

Fly Blue Crane CEO, Siza Mzimela, – the former CEO of South African Airways and South African Express – said that their online ticket sales were picking up............

Very odd destinations for flights. I drove to Bloem. It didn't seem that far.

Air travel is safer and much quicker. I have also driven from Joburg to Bloem....and it is not that far true .... but far enough to warrant a air service for those that wants to get their quicker or to avoid the other idiots on the road.
 
They list Nelspruit as airport, but no flights as far as I can see

I agree, but it would be interesting nonetheless to see two parties leaving for BFN from the same address, one taking a car, and one flying from JNB.

With all the sitting around at the airport, checking in and waiting to board this might be a close race.

Reminds me of Winston the pigeon vs. Telkom a few years ago. :D

This is Bloem. 5 minutes and you are the airport bar a rolbos causing a traffic jam at the one robot. :p
