I don't know if anyone noticed but FNB has a competition running at the moment, which when I first looked said you could win a Merc A Class per month for 3 or 4 months. When I went onto the website today that prize has suddenly changed to R25000 x 4 people per month!! This was after the competition had already started! If you google FNB win Mercedes A Class and you view the cached page it still says this. What gives!!? Is this not a bit unfair?

I've attached screenshots of the 2 different websites

Wow. That's a bit ****ing off if they've changed the prize mid-competition, and it's not just an additional prize/different competition. The total of the new competition is R300000 - a base model A200 starts at R375000.

Just googled it and their tweet on 11 September shows the Mercedes...

Fnb always puts in the t and c we can change the prize at anytime and we can substitute the prize at anytime,

Dont know why there's people even entering this;
To win you'd probably spend the same amount as a new merc anyway,
That's usually how it goes, isn't it?

Most comps have that in their T's & C's - but I don't recall anyone ever actually doing it, especially not when there's a R1,200,000 price difference in the prizes. That's just not done, especially if there hasn't been some sort of announcement?

I don't have an issue with a company changing the prizes to a competition if the T&C's state that they may.. If anyone actually goes and buys airtime or whatever specifically to enter a competition then they're a dumb nut.

You're probably not going to win anyway so who cares..

Well fnb suspended that funny saving lottery thing they had,
You remember, invest and win a prize, and then got shut down and changed to a normal account,
Lots were upset becuse of that one,

Oh snap. So they're actually serial prize changers?

@redarrow: agreed, but I have the feeling that possibly thousands of people actually have bought airtime just for the chance of winning the competition. Well, when they knew it was an A200, anyway.

Have never seen any winners of an FNB competition. They tend to have multiple running at a time. Buy a lottery ticket.

Yip, they change t and c very frequently and prizes even more so,

Sometimes i wonder, who actually tries to win these? Especially the ones that you must spend x on a CC every month,
They must think people are pretty dumb to fall for that one....

I mean to actually win you'll have probably spent the same value as the prize anyway,
And nobody kicks up a fuss when nobody win there.

Perfect con game if i ever saw one,

This is BS!!! I'd be ecstatic to win a A200, sell it or my current car and put the money in my bond.

Winning 25k on the other hand would only cover a low budget overseas trip :/

Myself as well, but nobody ever wins those without spending almost the same as a a200 in airtime/investment/monthly spend

So they like those sms competitions, to win you got to spend a lot, really a lot......

Best bet is you enter once, and randomly selected, from everybody who entered,
You have no way to be higher or not than somebody else.....

@eg Well I speak under correction but I thought that the number of entries from an individual is what counts, not the amount spent on those entries.

Yes most definetly, but in this case amount of entries is exactly the same as amount spend to get into the draw,

So there essentially the same thing, spend 10k on airtime, and get 10k of entries, somebody else spend 50k on airtime get 50k worth of entries,

At some point, fnb will try goad you even by saying your in the 1% of winners, keep buying airtime....

no rep on MYBB?

thats a shame, as how hard is it to simply add another website to the ones you check on a daily basis?

I mean the afrihost guys do it easily,
