I'm having a problem with FNB's Business Internet Banking and Java at the authorisation stage. This only happens on one particular pc and other websites that require Java load fine.

Sometimes when you try to authorise a payment / change in bank details, the Java logo appears and the little loading bar just gets stuck and doesn't continue loading. After a fresh install of Java last week it worked fine, but today it failed again. Prior to the fresh install, the Java applet refused to complete loading on both Internet Explorer and on FireFox.

I did try clearing cache/cookies/temporary internet files while still logged into internet banking, then switched to one of the other tabs and back again to the authorisation but it still refused to complete loading to get to the password section.

The problem seems to be getting more and more frequent.

Any ideas?

Sounds like a virus to me. Run an AVG scan and clean up a bit. Then reinstall and let us know if it helps :)

I assume you are using IE? Fresh install of java refered to Sun Java?
Have you tried using other browsers like Opera/Firefox and specify in the advance setting to use non-Ms Java?

That's something new to me - what do you mean by non-Ms Java?

I know with certain browsers/IE shell programs you may specify which JAVA Virtual Machine to use for browsing (not sure if this is related to your java problem), that's why I asked if your fresh install of Java refers to the Sun Java. Maybe just try install Sun Java runtime if you have not installed it already, and try one of these non-IE internet browser.

It wasn't a virus, and I'm still getting the problem in IE, but I managed to to sort it out today without closing IE.

I opened the Java console and typed x to clear the java cache and that fixed the problem. I just have to see how often it happens in future now.
