Hi all

Looking at FNB's packages and the prices per Gb looks very good

However, which SP are they using?

How does it work when you sign up for a device? I assume you'll need to open an account with them first before applying for a device.

I'm sure there's lots of n00bs out there who will appreciate the information :)

Thanks

Hi,

I've just ported to FNB Connect...I understand that they use CellC and Vodacom infrastructure. The primary reason for porting my number to FNB Connect is their pricing: R399/month Unlimited Voice across networks and mobile data at about a third of other providers (on month-to-month "contract", cancel anytime but will cost you R150 to cancel. I did not sign up for a device though. I believe that you need to have a FNB account yes. I'm hoping to drop from approximately R850/month to R505 (unlimited call package + 2Gig data).

Also just ported (with my original number) to FNB Connect and their R399 package (add R5 or so for caller ID). And their data costs R95 for 2Gb, so I am very pleased with the reduction in costs. (The R399 package attracts no eBucks).

What is the network quality like? Is the signal ok or do you battle to make/receive calls? I am asking because I was with cellc a couple of years ago and it was a pretty miserable experience. Im on vodacom now, have no problems with call quality and dont want to port to fnb/cellc then have hassles again.

I currently have a CellC contract which ran out so it's actually month to month now. I want to sign up with FNB still considering which package, how would I do this in terms of porting my existing CellC number over to FNB?

You can do it on the FNB website or using the FNB app. Choose the add SIM option and it will ask if you would like to port your number.
The port only happens once they deliver the SIM.

Or you can go to the branch but that apparently counts as a visit to the branch and would affect your eBucks.

I ported from Cell C to FNB connect a few days ago. Havent had any problems thus far. Data pricing a bit less then most and I like the fact that I get minutes, data and SMS every month and able to top up minutes only if needed.
