Was quickly taking a look through my CC charges and saw FNB charged me 100 bucks for making a single large purchase through Amazon.com.

I've seen smaller amounts go off for some of my subs and digital purchases I've made online (like R2-R5), but R100 for a single transaction seems a bit much? It was about 7k that I spent but this is the first time I've seen a single transaction that was so expensive.

Is this normal or has FNB made a boo boo?

Yeah the fees are normal they're processing fees your banks charge - given there's a few internmediaries to pay for each transaction as well. But of course its their business too.

And before the Capitec users all rush back to their PC from the ATMs to go on about how Capitec doesn't charge the fee and operates a profitable bank off love, charity and unicorns - there's many ways to recover it usually either outright or through the forex rate they've hedged when they did your transaction calculation or through bank fees or through a combination of the above. For example one bank charges you a USD rate of 18.00/1$ with a R100 fee, the other bank charges you $18.70/$ with no fee - but as obviously hedged a higher forex rate for recovery and so forth. It can be split up many ways.

Buy local next time.
Depends what he bought. I've bought a GPU and a laptop that with Amazon fees, DHL and forex conversion and Bank fees still came in about 15%-20% cheaper than here. And that GPU price i'm comparing to a distributor locally vs Amazon retail.

But yeah for most other stuff its not worth the pain. its really got to be pretty niche and then its expensive here and cheaper elsewhere.

Yup. PS5 Pro is R2500 cheaper (on Amazon.co.uk) than you can pre-order it for here.

That's significant enough of a price difference to say screw it to any convenience of getting it locally.

and taxes once it lands here?
I assume he meant R2500 cheaper with VAT added (i don't think it gets customs as its "electronics") - because if he didn't factor in VAT.. **plays the theme song from Titanic**

How else is she going to recoup the $1 billion "investment" funds she got for her campaign.

And look he was willing to pay R7k for it.
By spending time in Jail for starters... :) And i'm not referring to doing anything dodgy or sexual in jail. Because i would definitely not want to do anything like that with her...
