FNB Connect SIM

So around 6 months back I bought a smart device from FNB, which came with a Cell C SIM.

Not needing it at that time, I kinda tossed it aside in a drawer where it's been since. Today, I realise I may have an application for it and popped it into my tablet - however no signal.

Do I need to activate it somehow and, if so, how ?

Smart device (free) sims de-activated in December.
FNB Connect (paid) sim marketed in its place.

Does that mean I need a new SIM ?
