I am currently on a MyBB WA special (11gb for R99) but this has recently been given the lowest priority on their network and it starting to show (I can no longer work from home during the day as the connection is awful).

I am looking at FNB Connect (I am an FNB client) but I have a few questions:
  1. What are the speeds like during the day and after hours?
  2. Do the bundles only expire after 12 months (i.e. I can buy a 50gb bundle now and then another one in 4 or 5 months time)?
  3. Can I pay with eBucks?
  4. Why don't I earn eBucks when buying a bundle?

I am not a heavy downloader so I don't need masses of traffic, fast browsing and the occasional download is good enough for me.

Well if you are a client and you have at least a silver cheque account with them you can get 1GB a month free , so I would recommend getting one and testing it yourself to see if it is suitable to your needs. Just have a look in your internet banking under services.

I am in the same position, searching for a longterm high capacity capped solution. The only current alternative is, Vodacom 10GB @ R 325.00; see: http://www.vodacom.co.za/vodacom/services/Broadband/ADSL?selected=8_a9&ciFormat=default&ht=t

087 575 0001 / https://www.fnbconnect.co.za/surf_detail.shtml

What are the speeds like during the day and after hours?

Utilises MTN & IS backbone, so don't expect too much. All connectivity is based in Joburg.

NYC - AM: 2.85 / 0.60 Mb/s
NYC - PM: 3.42 / 0.62 Mb/s

Local, like any other ISP - "10" Mb/s

Do the bundles only expire after 12 months (i.e. I can buy a 50gb bundle now and then another one in 4 or 5 months time)?

Top-up valid for 12 months and without any out of bundle charges. Alternatively opt for one of our prepaid ADSL bundles that only expires after 30 days

Can I pay with eBucks?

https://www.fnbconnect.co.za/faq/index.php?action=artikel&cat=7&id=17&artlang=en

Why don't I earn eBucks when buying a bundle?

Phone the call center and inform - Earn eBucks when you surf for more than R150 per month (Excludes Data Bundles)

I use FNB Connect for topping up my Telkom Internet 9GB at the end of the month. A very convenient service, and I am happy with the pricing for the ±5GB/R120ish bundles.

Just remember that doing it through your online banking will top up rollover prepaid gigs at about R60 per GB. The well-priced 30-day bundles must be purchased through www.fnbconnect.co.za.

Used it to play SC2 and COD:BO. Performance in SC2 is not great, but acceptable for the most part. At times I get spikes every few moments, as well as "lost connection to server" when I come back into the game after about 35 seconds of waiting to drop. Nerve-wracking. :D

Browsing/everything else is great.
