Is it just me or does it look like FNB have dropped the ball somewhere with the iPad etc. billing. I took out the iPad deal when it was first announced near the end of 2011 (before there was a courier fee). The first few months they deducted money. The last few months nothing. This month they randomly deducted a R150 courier fee and I just picked up my mail a have received a statement for my iPad as if I've just taken out the deal and paid nothing.

What gives?

So I've dug into this a bit more.

I ordered an iPad 2 in October 2011. Price was R4800.
It was delivered in November 2011.
First deduction for R200 went off at the end of November 2011.
April 2012 some billing stuff up caused multiple R200 deductions, which FNB eventually fixed.
At some point I stopped seeing the R200 deductions on my account (incorrectly assumed it was on some other hidden tally).
April 2013 I got billed R150 courier fee
The April 2013 invoice (no. 1 nogal) states the total amount owing is R5736 (settlement is R5899).

I've lodged a query, will see what comes back.

Hmmm...

Come to think of it - I haven't seen a R200 come off in a while, either.
Will start having a look...

Do you have any specific number to call to query the iPad status - or did you simply hit the general FNB contact number?

In the past I just called the general FNB contact number. Because of all the information around this one I decided to rather use the email submission form so I could lay it all out. Autoreply promised a 1 working day response time.

Called up my most recent bank statement - I see the iPad is listed right at the bottom, as a separate item. Which is good. Still have 7 months to go - which is bad. :)

Odd, I haven't had any issues. Got mine in September 2011 and everything has been going like clockwork with regards to billing. Even when they started with the R50/100 discount per month I didn't have to do a thing...they just charge me R50 pm less automagically.

Sorry what? Discount??

So I finally got feedback from FNB (more than 2 weeks later). Their initial email reply showed that no-one had actually bothered to read the break down of my problem. Today (after numerous emails to follow-up) someone finally picked up the phone and went through the time-line with me. I've now been promised action with the Smart Devices department.

Out of interest I was told that the billing process for these devices was automated sometime last year only. I've also noticed today suddenly I have a smart device account profile showing in internet banking which is progress at least (the amount owing there is also much more than it should be).

Get Rbjacobs on twitter on it. I get very fast response times.

So we are almost at 4 weeks since FNB has logged a request for my smart device balance to be corrected and it's still not done. On the plus the courier fee has been reversed.

About 5 months after getting my iPad, they randomly started deducting the insurance for it (which I signed up for in the beginning). That entire dept seems like a mess.
